How to install Chinese Font for Pocket e-Sword (Free Bible Software)

You need to copy a Chinese font to your Pocket PC. The following describes the steps to copy the Font File "PMingLIU.TTF" to the Pocket PC.


e-Sword supports Chinese bible!	e-Sword in "parallel" mode displaying Chinese and English.

Step 1: Install PMingLIU on to a desktop PC (or notebook)

Download this Chinese font file at:
http://ww.e-sword.net/files/pmingliu.exe

If you have problem downloading the file, try the following:

2.1 Click the following

2.2 Scroll down and look for:

Chinese Union Version (Simplified)
(Requires the PMingLiU font)

2.3. Click on "PMingLiu font" to download.
Run the PMingLIU.exe. It will install a file “PMingLIU.TFF" in the Windows folder such as:
- C:\Windows\Font, or
- C:\WINNT\Font, etc.

Step 2: Copy the Chinese Font to the Pocket PC

Connect the Pocket PC to your desktop PC with a USB connector & cable.
Once, the Pocket PC is recognised and get "connected" to the PC, copy C:\Windows\Font\PMingLIU.TFF to the Pocket PC folder “Windows\Fonts”
How to copy the Font File to Pocket PC
- Configure the desktop PC so that it can show hidden folders in the Pocket PC (Windows Mobile). Essential steps:
  - Control panel > Folder Options
  - "View" tab
  - Look for "Files and Folders" > "Show hidden files and folders"
  - Select the radio button of this item as shown below.

- At the desktop PC, Launch "My Computer" to locate the Chinese Font at the windows folder stated in Step 1. e.g. C:\Windows\Font, or C:\WINNT\Font
- Select the file by clicking on it.
- Click "Edit" menu > copy.
- Launce "My Computer". Navigate to "Mobile Device". Refer to the following snapshot.
- Navigate into "My Windows Mobile-Based Device". Then continue to Navigate to “Windows\Fonts”.
- Click "Edit" menu > paste. This will paste the Font file into the Pocket PC folder “Windows\Fonts”.
After you have installed the Chinese font PMingLIU at your Pocket PC, you need to set the font to PMingLIU for the software that you are using. The following are some examples.
- For Pocket e-sword:
  - launch "Pocket e-Sword". Then select "View > Font Options" from the menu and select the Chinese font "PMingLIU".
- For Pocket word:
  - Open the pocket word document. If the chinese text do not display correctly, highlight the text and set the font to "PMingLIU"
If everything is working fine, you may reset the following step. (i.e. do NOT show hidden folders)
